We salute this year’s UNCW CFA Investment Challenge team for its outstanding work and finish at the 2021 Chartered Financial Analyst Investment Challenge competition. This year’s team advanced to the NC State Finals for the 8th consecutive year, finishing 3rd runner up and ahead of most other state universities ( hey to UNC-Chapel Hill!). The team exhibited extremely strong analytical skilled embedded in their virtual presentation on North Carolina based Albemarle Inc.

The CFA competition is one of the most challenging and competitive in business school competitions, a global competition that provides students with hands-on experience in extensive financial analysis and presentation skills. This offers real-world experience as they take on responsibilities of a research analyst. The team is assigned a company and performs an in-depth analysis, a full equity research report including valuations, competitive analysis, and management philosophy. This year’s competition included teams from nearly 1,200 universities and 98 different countries. The team, consisting of Nick Defrancesco, Radhey Patel, Jonathan Seward, Peter Stridh and Luke Winslow, was assembled last spring and worked the summer and fall preparing for the competition. The team advisors – Dr. Bill Sackley, Dr. Clay Moffett, and Mr. David Allison are proud of the accomplishments of the team and look forward to assembling a new team and preparing for new competition. Anyone interesting in applying for next year’s team should contact either Dr. Sackley or Dr. Moffett.
