The Cameron School of Business has a number of new graduate level programs aimed at helping working professionals advance their careers. Emilee Draper is a student in UNCW's new Masters of Business Analytics Online Accelerated Program. She is excited to be able to apply the tools she is learning in the program to her new career in Media Analytics.
Emilee Draper attended the University of Alabama for two years before transferring to NC State, where she earned her BA in Psychology in 2018. After deciding that she no longer wanted to go further down the psychology path, she chose to apply to the MSBA program and explore new career opportunities.
We caught up with Emilee to ask her what made her choose to attend this program over other programs at UNCW or at a different school. "I loved the vast opportunities that this degree can give me. The program is only one year, and the fact that it can be done all online," she said.
Balancing work-life, home-life, and school-life can be a challenge for working professionals, which made an accelerated online program ideal for Emilee. "I just started a full time position and thankfully the summer semesters are only one class at a time, so I am able to keep up, but it is tough some weeks." she continued. "If you work full time, definitely consider an OAP degree!"
She also told us that the real-life applications behind the program have been a real help to her career. "I have learned many analytical techniques through programs such as Tableau, R Studio, and JMP that I use at my job daily. Practice is the best way to apply your knowledge!"
With the end of her program around the corner, Emilee is getting settled in at her new position as a Media Analyst with The Variable, an advertising agency based in Winston - Salem, NC. Emilee will be completing the Business Analytics program at the end of this summer, as part of the first class to graduate from the MSBA program. She is looking forward to graduation in the Fall and we wish her the best of luck in her new career adventure.
